From Adelaide head north along Highway 1 to Pt.
Wakefield and turn left just out of town towards Kadina and some 9
kms later turn left again to Ardrossan. Follow this road south
calling in at seaside resort towns such as Pt. Vincent, Stansbury
& Edithburgh. Your may like one of these towns so much you will
want to camp there.
A good bush camp can be found at Hillocks, a
private farm south west of Warooka, right on the coast with great
fishing.
Alternatively travel from Warooka to Marion Bay and explore Innes
National Park. Good camping with toilets & showers is available
at Pondalowie Bay. Visit the many beaches in the park & walk
around Inneston the old gypsum mining town complete with wooden
railway line.
From Marion Bay take the road north to Corney
Point and follow the coast up the western side of the peninsula to
Pt. Victoria where there is a good caravan park or for bush camping
head to Maitland then Weetulta and then go directly west till you
hit the coast for several protected campsites in amongst the
sandhills and its free!!
From Weetulta go north to Moonta and explore the old copper mining
towns including Kadina & Wallaroo.
Lots of history here and a good campground at Wallaroo.
Head back to Adelaide via Pt. Wakefield, a leisurely 2 hr drive.
