Trip 3 River Murray

Leave Adelaide & head north on the road to Gawler where if you are so inclined you can spend time exploring the Barossa Valley, however if the outback is what you are looking for, keep driving through Nuriootpa to Blanchetown, Waikerie to Barmera. A great bush camp can be had in the Loch Luna Game reserve which can be accessed from the northern end of Lake Bonney (turn off opposite Lake Bonney Hotel ruins), on the outskirts of Barmera.
Alternative camping in this area can be had in Katarapko Park which is accessed from Berri Rodeo Ground. There are many good campsites on the Murray River here.

Travel to Renmark and take the road to Cooltong which will lead you onto the old Wentworth Road. Stop and admire the vastness of Lake Victoria at Rufus River and good camping on the river can be had near the Lock at Rufus River.
Head east to Wentworth and onto Mildura where there is plenty to see & do – eg: Wineries, shopping, restaurants plus other sightseeing attractions.

Journey south down Highway 79 through Redcliffs and turn left at Hattah, from this road you can enter the Hattah-Kulkyne National Park. Supurb river front campsites can be found along the Murray or alternatively in the campground at Huttah Lakes.
From Huttah travel south to Ouyen then head west to Underbool, where access is gained to Pink Lakes State Park. Bush camping around the Lakes & salt mining heritage area.
Return to Adelaide via Pinaroo, Murray Bridge approx 4 hours drive.
